I watched the evening news on TV last night and read the perspectives of some aspiring to lead the highest office in our land, as well as other offices at the national, state, and local level… Then had my time of “coffee with the Lord” this morning and read these words in my Bible…
“In the last days there will be very difficult times! People will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!” (Apostle Paul in 2 Timothy 3:1–5 New Living Translation)
Wow! I would say Apostle Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit, pegged it right wouldn’t you? I don’t care whether you’re a Democrat, an Independent, or a Republican… if you advocate positions that lead us that direction, or personally embrace and practice things like that, you should be ashamed of yourself! You’re the problem – and your positions disqualify you from being the kind of leader we need in public office.
It is certainly “the last days!” It won’t be long before Jesus will return and take over! I’m looking forward to that day passionately! In the meantime, with God’s help I intend to be “salt and light” (seasoning an unsavory cultural situation – and showing the way to “the light of the world”). He told me to do it! He said, “You are the salt of the earth… You are the light of the world… let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your Heavenly Father.” (Matthew 5:13-16) And as bad as it is… and as bad as it may get… with God’s help I intend to do just that!
