A warning to Christians about “shooting off your mouth”

Shooting off your mouth

Ever “shoot off your mouth” with stuff unworthy of a Christian?  As a devoted follower of Jesus, I’ve discovered the character and quality of my speech is very important to my testimony!

Apostle Paul urged, “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building others up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear… Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving!” (Ephesians 4:29 & 5:4)

Which reminds me of the wise prayer adage… “Lord, fill my mouth with worthwhile stuff, and nudge me when I’ve said enough!”

I prayed those words today and determined to refresh my memorization (and heeding) of the Ephesian verses!
