A prayer to pray for your children (or grandchildren) every day…

Praying with your childrenI believe I read every godly parent’s (and grandparent’s) prayer in the Bible this morning, as they think of the challenges that young people face today… Their prayer as they contemplate their future in the evil world in which we live today…

Here’s what I read this morning in my Bible this morning that describes the world in which we live – and the world our children and grandchildren will have to live in (should the coming of the Lord be delayed)…

“Save, O Lord, for the godly one is gone; for the faithful have vanished from among the children of man! Everyone utters lies to his neighbor; with flattering lips and a double heart they speak… On every side the wicked prowl, as vileness is exalted among the children of man.” (from Psalm 12:1-2, 8) Sounds like the corrupted culture around us doesn’t it?

Oh and the prayer? “O Lord, will you keep them? Will you guard them for this generation?” (A prayer that was prompted by reading Psalm 12:7)

But, here’s the good news… The Psalm doesn’t really state it as a prayer – it is uttered as a word of assurance – a statement of conviction in spite of the evil that seems to dominate our culture and the world around us… “You, O Lord WILL keep them – You WILL guard them from this generation forever!”

Hey, I pray it EVERY DAY for my children and grandchildren! But, I’m telling you, I’m grateful for the faithfulness of God and His ability to protect them and keep them from evil! I’m glad Psalm 12:7 is a word of assurance, aren’t you… Let’s pray it – and claim it!
