The vastness of the universe leaves me breathlessly in awe! Galaxy after galaxy – solar system after solar system – hundreds and thousands of light years… Some scientists argue that space is endless!
And then the contrast… a small, newborn infant – no, more than even that… An infant just beginning to form in the womb of its mother (about the size of a garden pea)!
Here’s what God’s word has to say about that… “You [Lord] formed my inward parts; You knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made…My frame was not hidden from You when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in Your book they were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was not one of them! How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!” (from Psalm 139)
On the other hand, here’s what I read about the vast expanse of the universe this morning during my time of “coffee with the Lord!” … “O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your Name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babies and infants You have established strength… When I look at your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son [or daughter] of man that you care for them? Yet You have made them a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned them with glory and honor! You have given them dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under their feet! … O LORD, OUR LORD, HOW MAJESTIC IS YOUR NAME IN ALL THE EARTH!” (from Psalm 8)
Wow! Incredible!!! From the smallest babe forming in its mother’s womb to the furthest reach of the universe… GOD IN CONTROL – GOD AWARE – CREATOR, SUSTAINER GOD!!! Apostle Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit, uttered these words… “For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible … all things were created through Him and for Him! He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together!” (from Colossians 1:16-17)
I’m simply in awe this morning! … More than that… I’m in worship!!! Hope you are as well!!!
