Human leaders fail! Only the Lord’s leadership endures and ultimately succeeds!

World leaders 2017We are inclined to look to human leaders for the solutions to national and international problems! Even Christians fall prey to this error! Heated arguments erupt over which leader has the correct solution to our national and international problems. We cast our vote and put our trust in first this leader and then that one… We anxiously anticipate their success and then despair over their failures. What is the solution to this cyclical dilemma?

There is a psalm in the Bible that addresses this problem and urges us to put our trust in the Lord… Psalm 146! He is the One that has the solutions our nation and the world desperately need! Human leaders will always disappoint us and fall short.

Here is what it says… (I read it just this morning during my time of “coffee with the Lord”)

“Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul! I will praise the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.

“PUT NOT YOUR TRUST IN PRINCES, IN A SON OF MAN, IN WHOM THERE IS NO SALVATION! WHEN HIS BREATH DEPARTS, HE RETURNS TO THE EARTH; ON THAT VERY DAY HIS PLANS PERISH.

“Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, who keeps faith forever; who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry.

“The Lord sets the prisoners free! The Lord opens the eyes of the blind! The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down! The Lord loves the righteous! The Lord watches over the sojourners! He upholds the widow and the fatherless, but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.

“The Lord will reign forever, your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise the Lord!” (From Psalm 146 ESV)

Just let me say, looking to the Lord, depending on Him, prioritizing and responding to His leadership is much better than expecting flawed human leaders to save us and solve our problems!
