Who is important in your life? My wife is incredibly important to me – I love her dearly! My children (and grandchildren) are important to me – how I love each one of them! My brothers are dear to me! So were my parents – I honor them highly! And then there are mentors and friends… I could go on!
But this morning during “coffee with the Lord” I was reminded of Who is most important to me – The Lord! It was the words of Psalm 16 that brought it to mind and expressed my feelings perfectly…
“Preserve me, O God, for in You I take refuge! I say to the LORD, ‘You are my Lord; I have no good apart from You!’ … The sorrows of those who run after another god shall multiply… The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; You hold my lot. The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance. I bless the LORD who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. I have set the LORD always before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure… You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (From Psalm 16 ESV)
If you’re like me there are some very dear and important people in my life. I appreciate and love every one of them! But I’ve got to tell you, the Lord is number 1 and I want to keep it that way!
