Idolatry… the height of foolishness!

Idols

Idolatry… the height of foolishness! Isaiah 44:9-20 addresses the issue and mocks the practice of making man-made gods (a good, insightful and entertaining read)…

Tragedy is, everywhere around us, people are embracing and crafting “gods” – objects of worship – God’s of their own making… just as foolish, dead, and helpless! (And folly of all follies, some of them claim to be Christians!)

Let the Living God speak this morning! “This is what the Lord says… ‘I am the first and I am the last, there is NO God but me! Who is like me? Let him make his claim! Let him announce it and explain it to Me… let them announce future events! … You are my witnesses! Is there any God but Me?”

Don’t know about you… I want a Living God!  I’m grateful I HAVE a Living God!

What was your prayer like this morning? How would you describe it?

Prayer

Had a good time of prayer and worship this morning… Sometimes prayer for me is a quiet voice – like an intimate conversation with a dear friend. At other times I’ve got an emergency and I “cry out!” Sometimes the pressure of life is great and prayer is more like a sigh… That’s what came to mind this morning as I read these words from Psalm 5…

“Listen to what I say, Lord! Carefully consider my complaint (or sighing)! Pay attention to my cry for help, my king and my God, for I am praying to you! Lord, in the morning you will hear me; in the morning I will present my case to you and then wait expectantly for an answer.” (Psalm 5:1–3 from the NET Bible)

How did you pray this morning? You see, it really doesn’t matter – He hears it all… Emergency praying, the sighing of a pressurized life, or the quiet conversation with a dear friend. “In the morning I will present my case to Him and then wait expectantly for an answer!” Don’t know about you, but I’m going to spend the rest of this Saturday waiting for an answer based upon His faithfulness!

In the race of life… Run patiently and finish strong!

Finish Strong

Most of you are aware I’ve run several marathons (including “Hood to Coast,” one of the world’s longest relay races, as part of a team). There are a lot of important spiritual lessons to be learned by running a marathon or a marathon relay.

One of those lessons is that after all the training and preparation (months of it to be precise)… you’re still very grateful to have enough strength and stamina to finish (hopefully with a “kick”)!

Thought of all my “coffee with the Lord” friends this morning who are engaged in “the race of their life” today… and made Apostle Paul’s words mine on your behalf…

“I always thank my God for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus! You were enriched in every way in Him! … The testimony about Christ has been confirmed among you! … You do not lack any spiritual gift as you wait for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ! He will also strengthen you to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship with His son, Jesus Christ our Lord!” (from 1 Corinthians 1:4-9 the NET Bible)

Life is a long race! He will provide everything you need! He is faithful! FINISH STRONG!
