The New Testament epistles contain something Bible scholars refer to as “haustaphels” (or “house codes”) in which reciprocal responsibilities within a Christian family (including household servants) are articulated (Colossians 3:18-4:1; Ephesians 5:21-6:9; 1 Peter 3:1-7)
This morning during my time of “Coffee with the Lord” I read and reflected on the one in Colossians. After addressing each member of the Christian “household” it has an important message for ALL OF US! IN GOD’S FAMILY WE ALL HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY!
Here it is…“But WHATEVER YOU DO, do it with all your heart, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you are serving the Lord Christ … for there is no partiality with Him!” (Colossians 3:23-25)
Believe me, I want to keep that responsibility of mine in focus daily as a Christian, don’t you?
