Compare the parallel references in the Gospel records: In Matthew Jesus is recorded as saying… “If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven GIVE GOOD THINGS to those who ask him!” (Matthew 7:11) In Luke’s account we are told what one (and probably a most significant) “good things” are… “If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father GIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT to those who ask him!” (Luke 11:13) Of all the things I might ask for as God’s child, the Holy Spirit is one of the very best things! (He transforms, empowers, comforts, leads us, corrects us, and is our Divine helper and advocate!) Praise the Lord!
