I jokingly tell people “There is a time to feast and there is a time to fast – and wisdom is found in knowing the difference!” I say it jokingly… but it’s TRUE! The upcoming Thanksgiving holiday in America (and other places where it has been embraced) is thought of as a time to “feast” (hopefully with thanksgiving)!
This morning, however, I read a passage in my time of “coffee with the Lord” that I believe helps put “the day-to-day” before Thanksgiving in proper perspective. The writer of Proverbs uttered it as a prayer… and so do I! Reflect on it, and I believe it will increase the significance of your Thanksgiving this year… for the right reasons! I believe it will mine!
Here it is…
“Two things I ask of You…. Remove far from me falsehood and lying; and give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me, lest I be full and deny You and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’ or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God.” (From Proverbs 30:7-9 ESV)
God has provided so amply (even bountifully) for me and for that I am grateful! Hope you are as well…Happy Thanksgiving!
