My Investment Strategy…

I have friends who are very careful about their investments.  They watch the market like a hawk.  They get up in the morning (and even before they pick up their Bible) they check the market.  They have instant notification apps on their cell phone to notify them of changes during the day.  Last thing before they go to bed at night, they check the international markets.  They’re upbeat and almost giddy if things go well – quiet and dour if it was a bad day in the markets.

I’ve got a little invested … a paltry sum by most standards.  I’m grateful that I’m interested, but not obsessed.  I have to admit, however, I’m VERY interested in the investments I’ve made in the Kingdom of God!!  Was reminded of that as I read the following passage this morning…

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.  Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.  And GOD IS ABLE TO BLESS YOU ABUNDANTLY, SO THAT IN ALL THINGS AT ALL TIMES, HAVING ALL THAT YOU NEED, YOU WILL ABOUND IN EVERY GOOD WORK.  As it is written: ‘They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.’  Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.  You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.  This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God  And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you.  Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!  (From 2 Corinthians 9:6–15 NIV)

Now, I’ve just got to say, the dividends on those investments are “out of this world” – I didn’t even have to provide the funds to do it – God is the one that really provided them!!  On top of that, I am rewarded!!  The return on investment is God’s cause furthered, more resources to share, thanksgiving and praise to God for His provision, and people actually praying that God will meet MY needs!  But it all begins when I amchallenged to follow THE EXAMPLE OF GOD FOR HIS INCREDIBLE GIFT – THE GIFT OF HIS SON

Think I’ll go check on my investments!!
