Precious Lord take my hand!

Father holding a child's handWhat picture comes to your mind when you read this brief passage in the Bible?

It doesn’t matter what comes my way Lord “…I am always with You; You hold me by my right hand! You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory.  Whom have I in heaven but You? And on earth there is nothing I desire besides you!!  My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever!” (Psalm 73:23–26 NIV)

I’ll tell you what I saw this morning during my time of “coffee with the Lord” – I saw a small child being led through life holding the mighty hand of a loving Heavenly Father!  I’ve got to tell you, as a “child of God” I’m very grateful for my Heavenly Father!  Aren’t you?

As I reflected on that image, the words of this old gospel song came to mind (and sung by none other than Jim Reeves!)…

“Precious Lord, take my hand
Lead me on, let me stand
I’m tired, I’m weak, I’m lone
Through the storm, through the night
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

“When my way grows drear, precious Lord linger near
When my light is almost gone
Hear my cry, hear my call
Hold my hand lest I fall
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

“When the darkness appears and the night draws near
And the day is past and gone
At the river I stand
Guide my feet, hold my hand
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

“Precious Lord, take my hand
Lead me on, let me stand
I’m tired, I’m weak, I’m lone
Through the storm, through the night
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home”
