A common objection I hear from people faced with the decision to become a Christ follower is, “I’d have to give up too much! Christians just have so much they can’t do! There are just too many restrictions!”
Here’s what the Apostle Paul had to say on that subject… (I read it in the Bible just this morning – pay attention to the words I’ve emphasized by putting them in all caps)
“Finally, WHATEVER is true, WHATEVER is honorable, WHATEVER is just, WHATEVER is pure, WHATEVER is lovely, WHATEVER is commendable, if there is ANY excellence, if there is ANYTHING worthy of praise, think about these things!” (from Philippians 4:8)
Doesn’t sound like a life of unhappy, dour, restriction to me! Sounds like your “dream life!” Keep the best – throw out the garbage! Find the good, the positive, the uplifting, the constructive and enjoy it to the hilt!
Admittedly a person can’t have it both ways.. the destructive, the demeaning, the dilatory, the diseased, the damning, the deadly and what Paul recommends! But who wants to? I don’t know about you, but I’m into the eternal, not a dead end! Hey choose wisely! Jesus is the One who declared, “I have come that they might have life and have it abundantly!” It’s the other guy, that “comes only to rob, kill and destroy!” (John 10:10)
