The Lord’s blessing is rich, wonderful and GOOD! Oh, and better yet, it overflows – it’s profuse and abundant! The tragedy is, if we’re not careful, it gets heavily seasoned with the sad sauce of selfishness… it becomes all about us!Here’s the truth of the matter Biblically… We’re blessed to be a blessing! Here’s what the Lord told Abraham… “I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, SO THAT YOU WILL BE A BLESSING! I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and IN YOU ALL THE FAMILIES OF THE EARTH SHALL BE BLESSED!” The Lord established that pattern and paradigm early in human history and nothing has changed!
So here’s the deal from my Bible reading during my time of “coffee with the Lord” this morning… Psalm 67…
“May God be gracious to us and bless us and make His face to shine upon us, that Your way may be known on earth, Your saving power among all nations! Let the peoples praise You, O God; let all the peoples praise You! Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for You judge the peoples with equity and guide the nations upon earth. Let the peoples praise You, O God; let all the peoples praise You! … God, our God, shall bless us! God shall bless us; let all the ends of the earth fear him!” (From Psalm 67 ESV)
Blessed to be a blessing! Oh Lord, I want to see things that way… I want to live that way!!!
