A few thoughts on the upcoming presidential inauguration…

presidential-inauguration-2017
In a few days, a new president will be inaugurated in the United States. Sincere, good people disagree about whether the administration of this new leader will be a positive or negative experience for our nation. I am praying for Him – more than that, I’m praying for our nation – that God will help him, and us, at this critical period in human history! There are many needs in America… But our great need is for a spiritual and moral revival in our nation! We need that more than we need financial prosperity, secure borders, military strength… or anything else!

This morning in my Bible reading during “coffee with the Lord” I read of another “inauguration” – of another leader and administration – the inauguration of a leader who will one day rule and reign forever! The impact of His leadership will not be simply over a nation – it will be universal and cosmic! Consider this description of the influence of the One Isaiah called “the Branch!”…

“And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD. And His delight shall be in the fear of the LORD. He shall not judge by what his eyes see, or decide disputes by what His ears hear, but with righteousness He shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth… Righteousness shall be the belt of His waist, and faithfulness the belt of His loins… They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea! … Of him shall the nations inquire, and his resting place shall be glorious!” (From Isaiah 11:1-10)

After reading that prophetic passage from the Bible this morning, here’s what I found myself praying from the bottom of my heart… “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven!” (Matthew 6:10) … “Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20)
