What an opportunity… Become an ambassador! God’s ambassador!

An AmbassadorI just read a wonderful passage that declares two wonderful truths…

Truth #1 – Although Jesus Christ came in the flesh and appeared as a man – He was more than just a man!  He was the “Messiah” – God’s “anointed one” – He was our Savior!  He was the one sent by the Heavenly Father and appointed by God to save humanity from their sin, reconcile them to God, transform their lives, and grant eternal life!

Truth #2 – People, although by nature sinners because of their “fall” into sin, have divinely given potential.  They can be reconciled to God through Jesus Christ, transformed by His grace, and become agents to bring the message of reconciliation to anyone who will accept it!

Here is what that wonderful passage declares…

Apostle Paul speaking:  “From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer.   Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation!  The old has passed away; behold, the new has come!   All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.   Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God!  For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.  Working together with Him, then, we appeal to you not to receive the grace of God in vain! … Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation!”  (2 Corinthians 5:16–6:2 ESV)

I embrace both truths by faith with all my heart!  And, Oh, how I want to be an agent of God’s reconciliation to others through Christ – an “ambassador of Christ – God making His appeal through me!”  My message?  “Oh, be reconciled to God!”
