God’s grace is “greater than our sin!” … I’m grateful!

My Bible reading this morning during “Coffee with the Lord” brought to mind the rich legacy in gospel music that Christians share. I relished the truth expressed in both! Enjoy! (I did!)

First the truth from the Bible…

“If many died through one man’s trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many… For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brought justification. For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ… For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous… But where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord!” (From Romans 5:12-21 ESV)

Then the rich legacy we share in gospel music…

“Marvelous grace of our loving Lord!
Grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt!
Yonder on Calvary’s mount outpoured,
there where the blood of the Lamb was spilt.

Refrain:
Grace, grace, God’s grace,
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within;
Grace, grace, God’s grace,
Grace that is greater than all our sin!

Sin and despair, like the sea waves cold,
Threaten the soul with infinite loss;
Grace that is greater, yes, grace untold,
Points to the refuge, the mighty cross!
(Refrain)

Dark is the stain that we cannot hide!
What can avail to wash it away?
Look! There is flowing a crimson tide,
Whiter than snow you may be today.
(Refrain)

Marvelous, infinite, matchless grace!
Freely bestowed on all who believe!
You that are longing to see his face,
Will you this moment his grace receive?
(Refrain)”
