Recently received a frightening diagnosis from the doctor? God can heal… Or God can…

Hearing the diagnosis that you have a life-threatening disease can be so frightening – so terrifying!  Disease can be so devastating and destructive – both inwardly and outwardly.  We’ve all watched dear friends “waste away” with dreaded disease.  Perhaps you’ve recently received a diagnosis that has you filled will dread.

I am so grateful that I believe in God’s power to heal!  I’ve observed “remission” – but I’ve also seen complete healing by the hand of God.  I believe the Biblical accounts that tell the story of Jesus cleansing the leper, restoring blind eyes, and opening deaf ears!  Nothing is too hard for the Lord!  My approach?  Let’s pray the prayer of faith together and leave the results to God!

But I also believe in the resurrection and this morning I was so encouraged and challenged by these words in 2 Corinthians 5 in the Bible during “coffee with the Lord”…

“For we know that if the tent, that is our earthly home, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.  For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling… so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life!  He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.  So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord…  We would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.  So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him.” (from 2 Corinthians 5:1–9 ESV)

So here’s the deal for me… If you’ve gotten a frightening diagnosis from the doctor I’m going to pray passionately for you believing that God has the power to heal you!  He can!  But if He doesn’t, this side of heaven, I also believe in the power of the resurrection… “a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens!”  I believe, “what is mortal can be swallowed up by life!”
