Coffee With The Lord

So I wonder what people who saw and heard me running this morning thought? … Here’s an ol’ guy running through Getzendaner Park in Waxahachie, TX quietly singing this ol’ hymn – (it just popped into my memory as I was running and expresses the cry of my heart!)

1. “I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice, and it told Thy love to me!

But I long to rise in the arms of faith and be closer drawn to Thee!

Refrain:

Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord to the cross where Thou has died;

Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, to Thy precious bleeding side!

2. Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord, by the power of grace divine!

Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope, and my will be lost in Thine!

3. Oh, the pure delight of a single hour that before Thy throne I spend,

When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God, I commune as friend with friend!

4. There are depths of love that I cannot know till I cross the narrow sea!

There are heights of joy that I may not reach Till I rest  in peace with Thee!”

Lyrics-Fanny Crosby – Music-William Doane

I don’t know about you, but that ol’ hymn expresses perfectly the longing of my heart!  Oh, “DRAW ME NEARER!”

Someone reading “Just a Sip” today needs this word of encouragement from 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17! … “Now many our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, Who loved us and by His grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say!” (NLT)

Hey, a new season of “DISCOVERY Bible Study,” hosted by Dr. LeRoy R. Bartel, is just around the corner! We’ll kick it off Tuesday, August 18 (Zoom invitations will go out August 11 – be watching for it)! Get the date on your calendar NOW! It will be held “Live” each week via “Zoom” on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. CDT/CST (but each Bible study session will also be taped and available online as well).

We call it “DISCOVERY Bible Study” because good Bible study – enriching, satisfying, life-changing Bible study, is “MORE than just a talking head!” DISCOVERY is built right into the experience! It’s engaging! It draws you in! It encourages you to DISCOVER and apply the truth in the Bible for yourself! Another name – the “technical name” – for this kind of Bible study is “Inductive Bible Study!”

We’ll be continuing our study of the epistles under the title “You’ve Got Mail!” This time our focus will be on the “Prison Epistles” (Colossians, Philemon, Ephesians and Philippians).

If you are leading a Bible study, please be aware that the “study guides” prepared for each study are an ideal curriculum for any small group Bible studies you may lead. These are e-mailed weekly along with the invitations to participate in a weekly Zoom session.

If you’d like to be a part of “DISCOVERY Bible Study” message me your preferred e-mail address to “LeRoy R. Bartel” on Facebook, or via e-mail at LeRoyBartel@gmail.com and we’ll get you enrolled and on the distribution list for the weekly Zoom sessions this season.

Dr. LeRoy Bartel, “professor emeritus” at Southwestern Assemblies of God University (now Nelson University) and former National Director of the Division of Christian Education for the Assemblies of God, will continue to “teach”/guide/facilitate each session.
