His Grace is Sufficient!

Sometimes we wonder if we can live righteously and overcome in a world with such prevalent, rampant, and escalating evil! We certainly are concerned about the spiritual success of our children, grandchildren, loved ones and neighbors!

Passages that predict moral and spiritual problems in the “last days” deeply concern us! … (For instance…)

“Understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth.” (2 Timothy 3:1-7)

But in the face of all of this, I read a wonderful inspired, uplifting word of assurance this morning during my time of “coffee with the Lord!”

“For THE GRACE OF GOD HAS APPEARED, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and TO LIVE SELF-CONTROLLED, UPRIGHT, AND GODLY LIVES IN THE PRESENT AGE, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works!” (From Titus 2:11–14 ESV)

Hey, take heart! HIS GRACE IS SUFFICIENT!!!

Determined to be a Healer – Not a Wounder!

I know what side of this issue I want to be on! … “The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.”  (Proverbs 12:18 NIV)

Learning From Solomon’s Prayer

Here’s the lessons I learned today during my time of “coffee with the Lord” from Solomon’s prayer at the dedication of the temple (1 Kings 8.22-61 – Great passage!!)…

  • There is no one/no God like the Lord! He keeps His covenant and shows his steadfast covenant love to those who serve Him with all their heart!
  • What God promises we can ask Him to fulfill!
  • No house of worship or temple that we build could ever contain God! Heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain Him! Yet He pays attention to the prayers we pray, the pleas we make, and the cry of our hearts in places like that!! (Not only that; He makes His presence known in places like that when we honor Him!).
  • God knows our hearts and when we sin, if we will acknowledge our sin and ask for forgiveness, He will hear us, forgive us, rescue us, deliver us and restore us!

Today, I make Solomon’s confession and prayer my own! “Not one word has failed of all Your good promises! … The Lord our God be with us, as He was with our fathers! May He not leave us or forsake us that He may incline our hearts to Him, to walk in all His ways!”
