When you’re in grief…

None of us knows what will come our way by way of circumstances this year! I know that I don’t. The Bible says “no one knows what a day may bring forth.” (Proverbs 27.1) I was so impressed this morning by the example of Job in Job 1.13-22 in his response to horrific circumstances that came his way.

Job’s family was enjoying a time of celebration. Suddenly one messenger after another appeared with terrible news (four in all). By the time the last had arrived Job had lost everything … even his beloved children!! Job’s response to this terrible situation was exemplary… He first of all poured out his heart in an authentic expression of grief! Then he fell to the ground in worship saying, “I came naked from my mother’s womb, and I will be naked when I leave. The Lord gave me what I had, and the Lord has taken it away. Praise the name of the Lord!”

Then what follows is this telling commentary: “In all of this Job did not sin by blaming God!”

Here is my prayer at the beginning of this year: If difficult and terrible circumstances come my way, O Lord, please give me the grace to express my grief sincerely, to worship you authentically, and the wisdom to not blame you bitterly in what I am experiencing!

Requests for the Bible Reading Plan – “Necessary Food”

Requests have been pouring in for the Bible reading plan I developed a number of years ago – “Necessary Food” based upon Job 23:12. I think I’ve gotten all requests for the plan cared for, but if you have requested it and have not received it yet, just message me (972-921-9317) or send an e-mail (leroybartel@gmail.com). Be sure to include your preferred e-mail address.

I’ve just posted a free Bible Reading Plan I developed… “Necessary Food”

FREE BIBLE READING PLAN…

Are you looking for a NEW, different, interesting, and uplifting, Bible reading plan for the coming year?  Then the “NECESSARY FOOD” BIBLE READING PLAN is for you!

Perhaps in previous years you’ve gotten bogged down in the “genealogies” of the Bible and given up on reading the Bible through.  When I developed the Necessary Food Bible reading plan several years ago I set it up to help with those challenges.  With “NECESSARY FOOD” you’ll have A daily “BALANCED SPIRITUAL DIET.”  Using the plan, you read A PASSAGE from each of the following parts of the Bible daily…

  • The Old Testament historical books
  • Bible Poetry (Psalms, Proverbs, etc.)
  • The prophetic books (in the Old Testament and Revelation)
  • The New Testament historical books (the gospels and Acts)
  • And the epistles

Not only that, THE READING PLAN IS “PASSAGE DRIVEN” – in other words it focuses on the natural divisions of Scripture – NOT just an arbitrary number of verses or chapters.

The plan’s name is based upon Job 23:12 in the Bible:  Job said, “I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my NECESSARY FOOD!”  And the “good news” is… following the “NECESSARY FOOD” Bible reading plan you complete the entire Bible in a year!

So if you’d like to have a FREE COPY, e-mail or message me (leroybartel@gmail.com or text at 972-921-9317), include your preferred e-mail address, and I’ll send a free “pdf” copy of the Bible reading plan to you.

AN ADDED NOTE:  If you desire to reproduce it and use it in your church, Bible study group, or other organization, you may… I only ask that you always include the copyright information any time it is used or reproduced.
