Confidence that Matters…

David was a hunted man!  Saul was out to get him!  He needed God’s help and protection…badly!  He cried out to the Lord for help!  But in the face of all the danger and difficulty all around him he had a deep-seated confidence… (Read Psalm 57!)

He said, “I cry out God Most High – to God who WILL fulfill His purpose for me! … My God WILL send forth His unfailing love and faithfulness… Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens! May your glory shine over all the earth… For your UNFAILING LOVE is as high as the heavens! Your FAITHFULNESS reaches to the clouds! Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens!  May your glory shine over all the earth!”

I am so glad I can have that same kind of confidence when I am in danger or under attack!! I am glad that I can have that same high view of God’s sovereignty + love [“providence”] on my behalf as David.  David enjoyed it when He was being pursued by Saul!  I can draw upon it too!!  “I cry out to God Most High – to God who WILL fulfill His purpose for me!”

Needs to Be a Plaque in My Office or Home…

Great, memorable advice at the end of 1 Corinthians… “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, be strong, let all be done in love!” (15:13-14) Worthy of a plaque in my office or our home!!!

Humanity’s Sad Verdict

This is what God’s word has to say about the moral verdict given humanity (I read it during my time of “Coffee with the Lord” today…

“The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”

They are corrupt, doing abominable iniquity; there is none who does good.

God looks down from heaven on the children of man

To see if there are any who understand, who seek after God.

They have all fallen away; together they have become corrupt;

There is none who does good, not even one.” (From Psalm 53:1-3)

Oh, the sad analysis and verdict of humanity! The sinful virus that entered humankind through Adam and Eve has infected us all. Self-will and the rejection of God’s authority and reality are key symptoms of this dread disease! There is only one remedy, forgiveness, cleansing and “new birth!” – becoming a “new creature in Christ!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
