Coffee With The Lord

BELIEVE ME, THERE IS A TIME AND PLACE FOR INTENSE, DESPERATE PRAYER! Psalm 102 expresses that kind of prayer… Here is how the traditional introduction to that Psalm reads: “A prayer of one afflicted, when he is faint and pours out his complaint before the Lord!” Have you ever prayed like that because of something you are facing?

Here’s how the Psalmist expressed it…

“Hear my prayer, O Lord; let my cry come to You!

Do not hide your face from me in the day of my distress!

Incline Your ear to me; answer me speedily in the day when I call!” (Psalm 102:1-2 ESV)

Can you picture someone praying that way – hearing their anguished voice? Listen, don’t hesitate to do it… Pour out your heart to God! It’s OK to pray that way! The introductory words of this psalm can help you get started! HAVE I EVER PRAYED LIKE THAT? … YOU BET!!!

Your pastor isn’t the source, neither did a well-known Bible teacher or counsellor advise it… JESUS CHRIST, THE SON OF GOD, IS THE SOURCE! … “I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you… Love your enemies, and do good, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High!” (From Luke 6:27-36)

I don’t know how it will impact you, but when I read these inspired words this morning from Psalm 101 (a psalm attributed to King David) I found myself saying, “Me too!!! …as a leader, AND as a person who simply desires to please God!!!”

See how they effect you…

“I will ponder the way that is blameless! … I will walk with INTEGRITY OF HEART within my house! I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless! … A perverse heart shall be far from me! I will know nothing of evil! … I will look with favor on the faithful in the land that they may dwell with me – he who walks in the way that is blameless shall minister to me!” (From Psalm 101 ESV)

And to those words I add my own… SO HELP ME GOD!!!
