The Lord… Mighty King over all!!!

Don’t know if you’ve ever experienced powerful waves in the ocean and smashing breakers – incredible, mighty, and awesome!  That’s the picture that came to mind as I read Psalm 93 this morning during my time of “coffee with the Lord”…

Here’s just a taste of the ocean’s power (listen, watch, and let it sink in as it relates to the words from the Psalm that follow…  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htbOkMAwnG8

“The Lord is king!  He is robed in majesty!  Indeed, the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength! … But mightier than the violence of the raging seas, mightier than the breakers on the shore – the Lord above is mightier than these!  Your reign, O Lord, is holy forever and ever!” (From Psalm 93 NLT)

And here is what I jotted in the margin of my Bible… “Lord, you are the mighty king over all!  Your Kingdom is everlasting!”

Psalm 91 – Good… No, “God medicine” for COVID-19

Psalm 91It is May 27, 2020 and the coronavirus/COVID-19 is pandemic… it has spread terror and trouble throughout the world!

Interestingly, my Bible reading this morning happened to be Psalm 91… that’s right, Psalm 91!!! You should read it for yourself, meditate on its words, reflect on its assurances!!!

After reading it today, I jotted a few things in the margin of my Bible…

“I will not live in fear – I choose to walk in faith! I will not be paralyzed by terror – I will trust the Lord!

“I’ve just gotta say… Regardless of what comes my way… Regardless of what happens… Regardless of what is going on around me… I WILL TRUST HIM!!!”

The Psalm starts this way: My declaration… “Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. THIS I DECLARE ABOUT THE LORD… He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I will trust Him!” (Psalm 91:1-2 NLT)

And at the end of the Psalm – His declaration; what He says back to me (and you who choose to trust Him)… “The Lord says, ‘I will rescue those who love me! I will protect those who trust in my name! When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble! I will rescue and honor them! I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation!” (Psalm 91:14-16 NLT)

There… I said it… and He said it! Psalm 91 describes how I intend to live my life in the middle of this crisis (and others that may come my way in the future)… How about you?

A prayer of blessing for you today!

As many of you know, I think, I post, appropriate birthday blessings from Scripture for those who are my Facebook friends. As a result, as I have “coffee with the Lord” I am on the continual lookout for appropriate passages I can use in that regard.

Today, I read Psalm 90, I identified such a passage! I’ve adapted it, and will use it, the coming year as such a blessing. But today I send it out to ALL OF YOU that may be frustrated and discouraged over the challenges COVID-19 has brought your way. I send it out to those who may be facing other challenges and difficulties that have come your way… It is my prayer of blessing on your behalf to God! He is faithful… and He is good! His “steadfast love endures FOREVER!” Here it is – I prayed it on your behalf today!
“Oh Lord, satisfy them each morning with your steadfast love, so that they may rejoice and be glad all their day! Make them glad for as many days as they have seen affliction – for as many years as they have seen evil! May they see you work again in their lives; let their children see your glory! May Your favor be upon them and establish the work of their hands – yes Lord, establish the work of their hands!” (adapted from Psalm 90:14-17 ESV)
