The Christmas Story… In May Yet!!!

I just finished reading the Christmas story from Luke 2 this morning during my time of “coffee with the Lord” (In May yet!)… What a wonderful story!  Serendipitous… Filled with surprises…

Who would have guessed that the Son of God, Savior of the world, “King of Kings and Lord of Lords” (a title claimed and corrupted by Caesar) would have been born in a stable, His cradle a manger shared with cattle…  and the grand and glorious announcement of this birth?  Not to nobility, but to humble Bedouin shepherds, “out in the fields, keeping watch over their flocks by night.”

Imagine it… another sleepy night with the sheep… “Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them!  They were terrified!! But the angel reassured them… ‘Don’t be afraid!’ he said. I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.  The Savior – yes, the Messiah, the Lord – has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!’ … And then suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others – the armies of heaven – filling the sky and praising God saying, ‘Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.’” (Luke 2.9-14 NLT).

Who, but Almighty God, could have/would have written the script for the “King of Kings and Lord of Lords” – Savior of the world” that way?!  BUT THAT IS GOD’S WAY…  GOD SURPRISES US BY REVEALING HIMSELF IN THE ORDINARY EVENTS OF LIFE – HE SUDDENLY APPEARS IN THE HUM-DRUM – HE MANIFESTS HIMSELF TO ORDINARY FOLK, LIKE YOU AND ME!!  HIS WAY IS FILLED WITH “GRACE SURPRISES!”

It could happen to you… it could happen to me… “Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them.”  Wow!! Even on May 23, 2022!!

“Just a Sip” from “Coffee with the Lord” Today…

“Just a Sip” from my Bible reading today during “Coffee with the Lord”…

“I will sing of the steadfast love [also “mercies” KJV] of the Lord, forever; with my mouth I will make known Your faithfulness to all generations!” (Psalm 89:1 ESV)

A Sip from My Bible Reading Today…

A “sip” from Zechariah’s powerful prophetic word today…

And Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied, saying, “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for He has visited and redeemed His people and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of His servant David, as he spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from of old… to give the knowledge of salvation to His people in the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God, whereby the sunrise shall visit us from on high to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide our feet into the way of peace.” (From Luke 1:67–79 ESV)
