“Just a Sip” from my Bible Reading this Morning

A wonderful “sip” from my time of “coffee with the Lord” this morning…

“When the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as His children. And because we are His children, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts crying, ‘Abba! Father!’ So you are no longer slaves, but His children, and if His children, then heirs through God!” (Galatians 4:4-7) … My comment? How good is that?!!!

A Great “Sip” from “Coffee with the Lord”

A great “sip” from “coffee with the Lord” today – Psalm 92:1-2

“It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; to declare Your steadfast love in the morning, and Your faithfulness by night!”  Just something good to occupy your day…TODAY!

A Good Church… It’s About Fruitfulness!”

I’m a visual guy… In my Bible reading today during my time of “coffee with the Lord” I read several verses that “set me off!” Here they are… followed by an explanation (with a pic)…

Psalm 92:12-15 (ESV)

“The righteous flourish like the palm tree

And grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

They are planted in the house of the Lord;

They flourish in the courts of our God.

They still bear fruit in old age;

They are ever full of sap and green,

To declare that the Lord is upright;

He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him!”

I searched high and low on Google to find an appropriate pic to support what this passage talks about… this is about as close as I could get (see pic)

You’d have to know that If I were pastoring today, I’d do my best to recreate what this Psalm describes on the property of our house of worship. I’d plant beautiful fruit trees on the church property – or, if the church building had a courtyard, I’d plant them in the courtyard. I’d personally care for them and nurture them – or if someone in the congregation had a “green thumb” or was an “arborist” I’d get them to care for the tree to maximize its beauty and fruitfulness. Then I’d put an attractive placard in front of one of the trees with this passage on it. Yes I would!!!

You see, that’s what good churches are all about… nurturing the lives of people to produce and maximize fruitfulness that satisfies the heart of God! (Read John 15:1-8!!!)
