Com’on, Please Tell Another Story!

I read a wonderful passage of Scripture this morning during my time of “coffee with the Lord” that brought back wonderful memories… Memories of sitting on the fringe of adult conversations as a small child and hearing story after story of the mighty things God had done for adult friends and family… It informed my faith, built my confidence in God, engendered trust in the promises of God, encouraged my prayer, and nudged me to follow the Lord more closely! I remember telling my parents, grandparents, and friends… “Please tell another story!!

Summer vacation time is just around the corner… There will be family gatherings, circles around a campfire, and other opportunities to share the stories of God’s faithfulness, power, and miraculous interventions in our lives! What a wonderful spiritual service we perform for the coming generation and one another! Let the stories roll – let God be honored – let’s build one another up!
Here’s how the Psalmist expressed it the passage I read this morning…
“Things that we have heard and known, that our fathers have told us. We will not hide from our children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and His might, and the wonders that he has done! He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to teach to their children, that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children, so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments! (Adapted from Psalm 78:3–7)
Com’on let’s do it … Let the stories roll!!!
