I’m so grateful for those who fought and risked their lives to protect the freedoms we enjoy as Americans! Many gave the ultimate sacrifice! We pause and remember them this Memorial Day weekend with gratitude!
In my Bible reading this Memorial Day weekend I read Galatians 2:1-10 and read about another person who defended the “freedom in Christ” that Christians enjoy…
Apostle Paul said, “Because of false brothers secretly brought in – who slipped in to spy out our freedom that we have in Christ Jesus, so that they might bring us into slavery – to them we did not yield in submission even for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you!” (Galatians 2:4-5) A bit later Paul explains what he fought for… “We know that a person is not justified (i.e. made right with God) by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified!” (Galatians 2:16) And he declared, “Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit are you now being perfected by the flesh? … Does He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith?” (Galatians 3.3-5)
Just let me say, as I am grateful for those who defended our freedoms as Americans, I am also “eternally grateful” for the spiritual leaders, who like Apostle Paul, down through the centuries and even today defend our “freedom in Christ”!!
