Psalm 85 – A wonderful song of forgiveness and grace!

His name isn’t important – in fact, he probably is representative of thousands of individuals who have slipped away from the Lord and gone their own way. He had been unfaithful to his spouse, his marriage was a disaster, his children hated him, and he was bearing the consequences of his sin and rebellious way. Deep in debt, struggling with depression and guilt, one negative and unfortunate thing after another that piled up – it was as if God Himself was against him…

It drove him to his knees! He turned to the Lord in repentance… He experienced the truth of the wonderful passage I read this morning during “coffee with the Lord”!!

Here it is…

“Lord, you… forgave the iniquity of your people; you covered all their sin. You withdrew all your wrath; you turned from your hot anger. Restore us again, O God of our salvation, and put away your indignation toward us! …. Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your steadfast love, O LORD, and grant us your salvation! Let me hear what God the LORD will speak, for He will speak peace to His people, to His saints; but let them not turn back to folly! Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him! … Steadfast love and faithfulness meet; righteousness and peace kiss each other. Faithfulness springs up from the ground, and righteousness looks down from the sky. Yes, the LORD will give what is good! … Righteousness will go before Him and make His footsteps a way.” (From Psalm 85 ESV)

Oh what a wonderful song of forgiveness and grace! God can and will do it for you! He’ll also do it for those you care about who are willing to turn to Him in repentance! Praise the Lord!
