A person’s perspective and viewpoint is everything! The lens of life through which they see things matters – it colors everything… Do I see the hand of God in everything or just blind fate or chance and accident? How do I view humanity – myself and those around me? Are we the special creation of God or simply a more developed evolved species of living things? I know, those are big questions – and they matter… they matter a great deal!
As I read Psalm 8 this morning I found myself very grateful that I have embraced the lens of life it expresses!
“O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens… When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet… O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!”
That lens of life for me has as its outcome a deep sense of purpose and significance! It prompts worship filled with thanksgiving and praise! It also leads us to see ourselves as God’s son or daughter – responsible and accountable to Him in a divine-human relationship and stewardship. Believe me, I’m grateful for that lens on life!
